Matter: De Nada

Warren Huff, CedarS Executive Director
Posted Thursday, September 27th, 2001

Matter: "con mucho gusto" ("with much pleasure") say, "De nada" ( "It's nothing!")
Although I took French instead of Spanish in school, our kids took Spanish and taught me these useful phrases. I thought of them when reading the Golden Text in the lesson: "choose you this day whom ye will serve." (Joshua 24:15) These two sayings are standard replies for a server when the one served says "Gracias" ("Thank you").

When we serve God (or His other sons and daughters) with great pleasure and without feeling burdened, we can expect to receive lasting satisfaction. After all, our whole reason for being or our mission, whether we choose to accept it or not, is to give, "to impart truth, health, and happiness." Miscellany, p.165:20 "Who doth His will, His likeness still is satisfied." (from a poem by Mary Baker Eddy entitled "Satisfied" and sung as CS Hymn #160)

No better tip could we receive than genuine and lasting satisfaction. Matter may look like a great tipper, but just remember that all the lout that it leaves behind is counterfeit and that all its promises are nothing but unsatisfying lies.
