CedarS Metaphysical Application Ideas for the Christian Science Bible Lesson on

Ancient and Modern Necromancy, alias Mesmerism and Hypnotism, Denounced

for November 30, 2014

by Warren Huff, CedarS Executive Director & who apologizes for a delayed posting due to my jumping in the last day as a 5th Sunday guest contributor

[Letting the need be known for donations to both of our Matching Funds: Just click below to give to “Maintenance Musts” ($19.1k to go) or Adopt the Herd”! ($48.3k to go)  Thanks!!]

Please don’t set aside this Bible Lesson as not applicable to you, even if words in its subject line sound negative, like denounced, or strange, like necromancy. Necromancy has to do with how the past and those who have gone on might affect the future.  [See P.S. #2.]  In a November 2011 CedarS Met, John Biggs, CS of Bend, OR, widened the application of modern necromancy to making decisions on the future based on fears from the past.  Such as “I won't apply for that job—I've already been turned down so much." "I'm scared to commit to this person; all my previous relationships have hurt me so much."  Or even predictions you might find in the news—History repeats itself: because of past mistakes our children will all have to suffer the consequences socially / environmentally / financially. We don't need to be hypnotized into living in these ruts! (Hypnotism is "an artificially induced trance state resembling sleep, characterized by heightened susceptibility to suggestion." From www.dictionary.com) We don't need to believe these suggestions. Likewise, the solutions to the challenges that seem to face us won't come through human will-power. This lesson urges us to fully place our focus, safety, confidence and joy in God.”  [Click to read John’s full 2011 Met in English, Spanish, French and German.  In P.S. #1 here’s how Carole “Mimi” Schierholz “pitched” this lesson subject… “does your thinking stay focused on God's love and care for you and for this universe all of the time? Are you able to feel like God is meeting your every need all of the time? Why not? Then this lesson is for you.  We all need to study this lesson to make every day our happiest thanksgiving yet.”]

The Golden Text (repeated in the last Bible citation, B15) lists “the fruits of the Spirit” that will perfectly complement every Thanksgiving feast [or wilderness feast of Soul as in B11)] and will lead to your happiest-times-yet of entertaining angels! (S12, S11)  As the Amplified Bible puts it: “…the fruit of the [Holy] Spirit [the work which His presence within accomplishes] is love, joy (gladness), peace, patience (an even temper, forbearance), kindness, goodness (benevolence), faithfulness, Gentleness (meekness, humility), self-control (self-restraint, continence). Against such things there is no law [[a]that can bring a charge]. Galatians 5:22 the, 23 (AMP) [See P.S. #2 if you wish to join a Prayer Watch at high noon wherever you are in support of our area’s peaceful response to an imminent Grand Jury verdict about bringing charges against Ferguson, Missouri police officer, Darren Wilson, for his August killing of an unarmed, black teen, Michael Brown.  The whole nation joins the St. Louis area in praying for peace, justice and harmony to prevail so as to avoid a repetition of the racial inharmony, unrest and looting that happened this summer as a result of perceived, ongoing injustices in the legal system.]

The five sections of this lesson are power-packed with positive treatments for such issues of today; they feature the healing power of divine Love as the first fruit of the law-protected fruits of the Spirit.  “Love, joy (gladness), peace, patience (an even temper, forbearance), kindness, goodness (benevolence), faithfulness, Gentleness (meekness, humility), self-control (self-restraint, continence)” are all elements of the harmony that is mentioned 4 times in this lesson (S10, S22, S23, S24).  Mary Baker Eddy says we are to draw attention to and emphasize harmony all the time.  “The real Christian Scientist is constantly accentuating harmony in word and deed, mentally and orally...” (Misc. 206:19)  This is a key part of CedarS 2015 metaphysical theme as it is a key part of this lesson. [To add a memorable, musical element to this message check out P.S. #3 about Kay Kyser’s song “Accentuate the Positive, Eliminate the Negative.]

Responsive Reading: Be not terrified by testing times, by wars, commotions, terrorists…
“Don’t trust every spirit, dear friends of mine, but test them to discover whether they come from God or not. For the world is full of false prophets. You can test them in this simple way: every spirit that acknowledges the fact that Jesus Christ actually became man, comes from God”
(I John 4:1, 2; J.B. Phillips New Testament (PHILLIPS)

The Responsive Reading illustrates the need to stay abreast of our times. In 1908 Mary Baker Eddy laid the final brick in the edifice of Christian Science when she founded The Christian Science Monitor.  Thanks to the vision and team put together by John Yemma, editor-at-large of The Christian Science Monitor, who spear-headed the transition to the digital and weekend print formats, we have more readily available tools to inform our prayers for peace.  John recently said that “peace is the health of nations…  The Monitor will always be first with the news we want to hear…  The writers are committed to praying for the inspiration needed to be able to re-frame each problem as a contradiction of what is actually true.”  I have really enjoyed seeing each world problem and personal issue re-framing as nothing more than a lie about one or more of God’s synonyms and seeing how the truth about that aspect of God trumps and eliminates every problem.  This is the type of inspiration and insight needed to help us when we “hear of wars and commotions, (to) be not terrified…  the distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring… And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh… Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.”

I found great inspiration in Cobbey Crisler commentary on Luke 24 (a few chapter beyond the Responsive Reading).
“Luke 24:13 This is the great walk to Emmaus, one that never left the world where it was. Two men came back, having talked with a stranger, a stranger who was Jesus. The very one who defeated death after three days in the grave. The tomb door opened and he emerged with the news that death had been overcome.
“One of Jesus’ greatest reassurances to humanity is his statement found in John 16:33, where he said, “Be of good cheer.  I have overcome the world.” He said that even before Gethsemane at a time when his disciples should have been cheering him up.
“As someone very dear and a deep Bible student said to me once, “The meaning of that is clear.  When Jesus says to you and me to be of good cheer, that’s the state of mind he expects. Not all the depression, this weighing down, this Weltschmerz (world weariness).  With the pressure of the world we feel like a leaden weight is crushing out of us our vitality, our inspiration.  What the world actually needs, as the song says, is not just love, but inspiration.  When Jesus said, “Be of good cheer, I have overcome the world,” this dear woman said to me, “That means that you and I are fighting a defeated foe.”
“Jesus has already overcome the world, proving that there’s not one single obstacle in the world that cannot be overcome using his method of mastery.  If we were to exercise dominion, we must begin to look like Jesus in our thinking and in our examples, and begin to master, rather than be mastered or dominated.”  [B. Cobbey Crisler, Luke the Researcher, p. 179-180]

Section 1—Pass God’s Math Test with a perfect score & no toiling! Plus, no sorrow added!
As citation B1 promises “The blessing of the Lord—it makes [truly] rich, and He adds no sorrow with it [neither does toiling increase it]” (Proverbs 10:22, Amplified Bible (AMP).

It’s great to have handled right away in the 1st section (citations B3 and B4 as well as the paragraph called “Thought-transference” in citation S4 and in S5), the utter impossibility that anyone trying to accentuate inharmony through curses or put-downs of any kind can have any effect on those who God has blessed.  (See Numbers chapters 22 and 23 in which Balaam does the math well when he calculates “If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the word of the Lord my God, to do less or more… Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it.” [Note Mary Baker Eddy’s wording that “truth cannot be reversed, but the reverse of error is true” (S5) and her statement that “The object of the Monitor is to injure no man, but to bless all mankind.”]

[See P.S. #4 for Matthew Henry comments on the rest of the story on the background info of the blessing and cursing and the role of an angel… ]

Citation B5 and S3 point out the impossibility of a spring sending forth at the same place both sweet and bitter water.  We should heed this Biblical example and avoid the folly of “shooting ourselves in the foot” by trying to argue as an attorney on both sides of any case with both blessing (the optimism of spiritual sense) and cursing (the pessimism of material sense) coming from our attorney mouth.  “Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.  Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?” (James 3: 10, 11)  Mary Baker Eddy prayed for President McKinley in her day when he was the target of hatred and of a successful assassinated attempt.  She pointed out that success was not achieved in saving him because there were opposing elements in the prayer for him to recover. [“Had prayer so fervently offered possessed no opposing element, and President McKinley’s recovery been regarded as wholly contingent on the power of God, — on the power of divine Love to overrule the purposes of hate and the law of Spirit to control matter, — the result would have been scientific, and the patient would have recovered.”  1st Church of Christ, Scientist and Miscellany 293:21

Section 2—Instantaneous Healing for Moses (B7) is true for us too! As is precise shooting!
I love the Poof!—Instant Proof! demonstrated by God to Moses in citation B7 when God asked him to pull his leprous hand out and it was instantly cured, proving that it was really nothing more than “aggressive mental suggestion.” (Manual 42:4)  I have loved fully believing and proving this gift belonged to me (and you) many times.  Once it was by an instantaneous healing of a broken arm and another time a broken ankle.  On the financial scene we once had a sudden $100k shortage of funds due to an unexpected roof repair that was met within the hour by a new donor who just got the angel message that we had a need! Once it was a 60,000,000 influx of water to fill our new Mediterranean in six days before our 50th season.  Claim Love’s provisions as your own by divine right of reflection!

Another divine Math equation to take to the bank is citation B9:  “I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it (no “air balls”), nor any thing taken from it (no “bricks”):” (Ecclesiastes 3:14)  Our daughter, Holly Huff Bruland, (who works now as CedarS Development Director) was having a shooting slump when her Principia Scholl team headed into district basketball play.  Applying this citation was what turned the tide, and it too happened in a hurry.  I still have the “Immaculate 4th Quarter” on tape when Principia went from 16 points down to a one point win though some amazing teamwork, steals and a series of spot-on shots from beyond the arc, even one at the buzzer.

We need to have the mindset of Moses for mastery as well with “fear departed… (and a discovery) that what he apparently saw was really but a phase of mortal belief… not a condition of matter.” (S7)

[Click “Health Plan of Christ” to hear Evan Mehlenbacher’s “Daily Lift” for today 11/24/14 that expands upon citation S10 and “your divine rights… to assert your prerogative to overcome the belief in sin, disease, or death.” (SH 253:10)]

Section 3—Jesus Passes the Test of his Sonship with Flying Colors; we can pass ours too!
As P.S. #5 there’s a full copy of Cobbey Crisler’s insightful commentary on Jesus’ tests in citation B11, Matt. 4:1-11, 23: “There is what we might call an identity-crisis test in Chapter 4 (of Matthew).  The Anglo-Saxon word “tempt” has almost picked up a theological meaning.  It really means “test.”  That’s what the word means.  It’s a test… ]

In citation S11 and S12 we have a spiritual version of the angels that came and ministered to Jesus in citation B11 after he passed his test with flying colors; and the angels that Mary sees in the next section, citation B13:
“ANGELS. God’s thoughts passing to man; spiritual intuitions, pure and perfect; the inspiration of goodness, purity, and immortality, counteracting all evil, sensuality, and mortality.” (S11, 581:4)

“Angels are God’s representatives. These upward-soaring beings never lead towards self, sin, or materiality, but guide to the divine Principle of all good, whither every real individuality, image, or likeness of God, gathers. By giving earnest heed to these spiritual guides they tarry with us, and we entertain “angels unawares.” (S12, 299:11)

Section 4—Jesus gave legs to his prayers and with ever-at-hand angels mastered the grave!
Jesus constantly accentuated the positive (+) and eliminated the negative (-); he “went about doing good (+), and healing all that were oppressed of the devil (-); for God was with him.  (B12, Acts 10:38)

Cobbey Crisler again offers some insightful commentary on Mary’s visit to see the risen Christ in citation B13, John 20:1, 11-14, 16:
John 20:1, “Womanhood appears at the tomb.” Where are the male disciples? They don’t seem to be around.
John 20:11 tells us that Mary Magdalene, who had maintained a vigil all night, “stood outside that sepulcher and she was weeping.”  Earlier she had given the news that the tomb was empty, and the body probably stolen… “she stooped down”… “And she looked into the
sepulcher.”
John 10:12 … “Mary saw two angels.”
Were they there when Peter and John looked?…
John 10:13, “The angels speak directly to her and ask her why she is crying.  She explains they have taken away my Lord, and I don’t know where they have laid him.”
John 10:14 notice what happens to Mary.  The language here expresses a change in her entire attitude.  “It says she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing.” But as in the case with all resurrection appearances “she doesn’t recognize him at first.”
John 10:16At that point, Jesus requires Mary to turn herself completely from that tragic sense of defeat and death in that one word, “Mary.”
John tells us that “Mary turned herself and said Rabboni; Master.” And what that word Master meant!  Who else had proved and lived the meaning of that word like Jesus?  Now, even the Master of the last enemy.  But that one word, and the love behind it. “’Mary,’ caused her to turn herself.”

We strive for such moments where his resurrection becomes ours as well at Resurrection Garden in CedarS Bible Lands Park.  It comes with a “He is Risen” sign and the stone rolled away.  Note the language of the marginal heading in citation S19 (450:27)False claims annihilated” and the elimination of separation.  Who, that has felt the perilous beliefs in life, substance, and intelligence separated (-) from God, can say that there is no error of belief? Knowing the claim of animal magnetism, that all evil (-) combines in the belief of life, substance, and intelligence in matter, electricity, animal nature, and organic life, who will deny that these are the errors which Truth must and will annihilate?”

The theme of accentuating harmony is reinforced in citations S22 and S23:
“When it is learned that the spiritual sense, and not the material, conveys the impressions of Mind to man, then being will be understood and found to be harmonious.” (214: 14)

“A demonstration of the facts of Soul in Jesus’ way resolves the dark visions of material sense into harmony and immortality.” (428:3-8)

Section 5—Begin with the G.T. blessings in Mind; end with them “on earth as in heaven.”
The Amplified Bible states “Every good gift and every perfect (free, large, full) gift is from above; it comes down from the Father of all [that gives] light, in [the shining of] Whom there can be no variation [rising or setting] or shadow cast by His turning [as in an eclipse].” (B1i, James 1:17)

While I normally prefer other translations to The Message’s idiomatic paraphrasing, I do like the way our theme citation from the Golden Text ends with “able to marshal and direct our energies wisely.”  “what happens when we live God’s way? He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard—things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force our way in life, able to marshal and direct our energies wisely.” (B15, Gal. 5:22, 23)

In wrapping up this upbeat lesson, citation S24 accentuates “all that is real, harmonious, and eternal” enabling us to “marshal and direct our energies wisely” to promote affection (+) and virtue (+) in families and therefore in the community” while at the same time eliminating as nothing “the kingdom of evil” (-) and despoiling it. (S24)

The final citation alters everything by altar-ing everything to God for the divine glory:
“God is infinite, therefore ever present, and there is no other power nor presence.”(S25)

[P.S. #1—A classic blast from the past (11-24-08) in the words of CedarS Express Founder, Carole (“Mimi”) Schierholz, C.S., Tampa, FL who just last month “stepped off the planet” or “changed her address” as my mom likes to put it.  “Hey, you, yes, you, please don't put this lesson aside just because you don't understand the words in the subject of this week's Bible Lesson or don't think this subject could help you.  I know, you like to feel the comfort that comes to you as you contemplate God's love for you and everyone. Don't you feel so safe as you think about your relationship to God being the reflection of God's goodness. You love to read and think about God causing, creating and preserving you. I do too. You have probably had some healings and direction from this study. I have. But does your thinking stay focused on God's love and care for you and this universe all of the time? Are you able to feel like God is meeting your every need all of the time? Why not? Then this lesson is for you. We all need to study this lesson to make every day our happiest thanksgiving yet. It is important to understand why we need to "debunk the junk," to denounce ancient and modern necromancy alias mesmerism and hypnotism.

Those are big, mysterious, confusing-looking words aren't they? Maybe you don't want to take the time to research this ancient and modern necromancy. Mesmerism and hypnotism, well maybe you have heard something about them. So perhaps we can just leave this subject alone. STOP!! WRONG!! This way of thinking is just the way ancient and modern necromancy alias mesmerism and hypnotism works. All of those words are just another way of describing mortal mind and its junk – its allurements, deceptions and beliefs. It would like to obscure itself, and to belittle, condemn, and/or confuse you, so you will just let it alone so that it can grow. Mortal mind [like the junk in your closet] wants nothing more that to be left alone. Now, Mrs. Eddy knew better than to just let mortal mind be left alone. She has a whole chapter in Science and Health named "Animal Magnetism Unmasked." Mortal mind with its deceptive lies needs to be unmasked, identified, and denounced, denied, cast out of our thinking as unreal because not of God.”

Jesus told his disciples to "heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers and cast out demons." This demand to "cast out demons," doesn't it sound a little like denounce to you? It does to me. These demons are suggestions or beliefs, deceptions and lies that would like for you to think about yourself and others in mortal terms, seeking happiness, health, satisfaction, and self worth on material terms. Jesus cast out these claims with the Christ, Truth and restored the health of people.

Let's follow the Lesson to see how it instructs us to "debunk the junk" by denouncing the beliefs and claims of mortal mind.”  Click to read Mimi’s full 2008 Met in English, Spanish or French.]

[P.S. #2Please join us in a Prayer Watch today (and daily till harmony is demonstrated).  As many time zones as our camp family of supporters spans, we should have nearly continual prayers being offered!  At high noon in whatever time zone you live in please give a prayerfully treatment however long it feels right to support the demonstration of our area’s peaceful response, no matter the verdict, to an imminent Grand Jury verdict about bringing charges against Ferguson, Missouri police officer, Darren Wilson, for his August killing of an unarmed, black teen, Michael Brown.  The whole nation joins the St. Louis area in praying for peace, justice and harmony to prevail so as to avoid a repetition of the racial inharmony, unrest and looting that happened this summer as a result of perceived, ongoing injustices in the legal system.  Please pray with us to stop just quoting the dead letter of valuing racial diversity and equality and really LIVE its healing spirit in our churches, schools, communities!]

[P.S. #3 about Kay Kyser’s song “Accentuate the Positive! Eliminate the Negative!” It is sung as a sermon on a YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKGh3DJsBDQ
Here are some of the lyrics that tie in directly to this week’s Bible Lesson that with its negative Subject denounced and the positive elements of its Golden Text accentuated.

“You’ve got to accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don’t mess with Mister In-Between.

“You’ve got to spread joy up to the maximum
Bring gloom down to the minimum
Have faith or pandemonium
Liable to walk upon the scene.”

[P.S. #4 for Matthew Henry comments on the rest of the story on the background info of the blessing and cursing and the role of an angel… “The king of Moab formed a plan to get the people of Israel cursed; that is, to set God against them, who had hitherto fought for them. He had a false notion, that if he could get some prophet to pray for evil upon them, and to pronounce a blessing upon himself and his forces, that then he should be able to deal with them… (but a) curse shall not come upon us if there is not a cause, even though men utter it.”
If you want to read more of the story outside the Lesson
(Numbers 22:22-35), there are several interesting twists and turns with “an angel unawares” (S12) encountered on the road “to counteract all evil” (S11).  It is seen by Balaam’s ass that ends up talking to her master… Matthew Henry continues his commentary:  “The holy angels oppose sin, and perhaps are employed in preventing it more than we are aware. This angel was an adversary to Balaam, because Balaam counted him his adversary; those are really our best friends, and we ought so to reckon them, who stop our progress in sinful ways… It is common for those whose hearts are fully set in them to do evil, to push on violently, through the difficulties Providence lays in their way. The Lord opened the mouth of the ass. This was a great miracle wrought by the power of God. He who made man speak, could, when he pleased, make the ass to speak with man's voice. The ass complained of Balaam's cruelty. The righteous God does not allow the meanest or weakest to be abused; but they shall be able to speak in their own defence, or he will some way or other speak for them. Balaam at length has his eyes opened. God has many ways to bring down the hard and unhumbled heart. When our eyes are opened, we shall see the danger of sinful ways, and how much it was for our advantage to be crossed… The angel declared that he should not only be unable to curse Israel, but should be forced to bless them: this would be more for the glory of God… than if he had turned back.”]

[P.S. #5 on Cobbey Crisler commentary on Jesus’ temptations, Matthew 4:1-11, 23:
“There is what we might call an identity-crisis test in Chapter 4 (of Matthew).  The Anglo-Saxon word “tempt” has almost picked up a theological meaning.  It really means “test.”  That’s what the word means.  It’s a test. (Verse 1)  So, “Jesus was led up of the Spirit into the wilderness” to be tested on the fact that had recently been revealed (directly from God in Matthew 3:17 that Jesus was God’s “Beloved Son”).
Verse 2. “After forty days and nights he’s hungry.”
This reminds me of Moses.  He, too, had that testing period (Exodus 24:18) just prior to receiving the Ten Commandments. For forty days and forty nights.  This Chapter in Matthew is just prior to the Sermon on the Mount or the Beatitudes.  This preparation is the same.  And there is a test.
Verse 3. “When the tester comes,” here it is, question Number 1: “If you are the Son of God.” Why would that even have emerged if we had not had Verse 17 in the preceding chapter?  “This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.”  The test question is, “If you are,” then what? “Command that these stones be made bread.”

How does Jesus respond to this test question?  He quotes Scripture.  Notice how Jesus responds to temptation.  If this is the way Jesus elects to respond to it, what about you and me?  How eloquent might you or I try to get when we respond to temptation?  Make up original sermons, choose our words carefully, perhaps?

Jesus decided the best defense was Scripture.  This verse is taken from Deuteronomy 8, Verse 3. Deuteronomy is a law book.  In fact, the word in Greek deuteros nomos is the second law or the repetition of the law.  How did he regard this test by Satan? What was going on in Jesus’ thinking here?  Had he isolated it completely?

“First of all, what does Satan mean in Hebrew? Accuser. It is also the term for prosecuting attorney.  If he has the prosecuting attorney accusing in thought, Jesus in his defense cites what?  The law.  He quotes the law book.  He doesn’t need to do anything original.  The law is the law and it never varies.  Therefore, what is being suggested her by Satan, or the prosecuting attorney is illegal. It is illegitimate. He proves it by citing the law.  That’s a marvelous technique for us in the middle of temptation.

“Our consciousness is like a law court.  And the plusses and minuses that occur there have to be dealt with, as in a law court. Where are the accusations coming from?  The prosecuting attorney or Satan.  Where do we get the information?  The law book or the defense attorney.

“You know that Jesus promised that something would come after he had left. It’s been translated “the comforter” in the gospel of John.  The Greek word is parakletos, sometimes transliterated as paraclete.  In Greek it can be the technical term for defense attorney.

“Verse 4.  So, where did Jesus turn for his protection and defense, the defense of his manhood, the defense of his sonship with God, which is a spiritual fact revealed directly to him by God?  How does he defend it? By citing the law book, utilizing the Comforter or defense attorney against the arguments of Satan.  If Jesus had to do that, can we do anything less?  “Man shall not live by bread alone,” Jesus said, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” That is a great statement of survival in an emergency….

Verse 8. The third charge or accusation occurs, “the devil takes him into an exceeding high mountain, and shows him all the kingdoms of the world

“All these things being offered to Jesus are to a degree a kind of power.  He was offered personal power by changing stones to bread.  Then he was offered priestly power if he’d go for the argument to be the head of ecclesiasticism.  And he was offered political power by being shown all the kingdoms of the world.

“All these temptations that hit human nature… We are in the wilderness at some point along with Jesus having the exact same tests applied to us.  How are our responses to those exam questions?  DO we pass with flying colors?…

Verse 10.  We find that Jesus answers and that the only thing he says that’s original, “Get thee behind me Satan.”  He dismisses the prosecution in thought, “for it is writte, thou shalt worship the Lord thy God and Him only shall thou serve.”…

Verse 11.  Look what happens.  “The devil leaveth him.” No longer is there dualism in thought.  “Angels came and ministered unto him.”  True communication completely governed his thought, no longer a divided kingdom.  The false communication is dismissed.”Verse 23. And “healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.”  Here are human problems that had defied solution, and Jesus solved them all based on his concept of theology, namelt the kingdom.  Remember a kingdom is not chaos.  It’s an ordered government of heaven and harmony at hand.”  B. [Additional Director's Note: You can sign up to have these application ideas emailed to you free – by Monday each week in English; or by each Wednesday you can get a FREE TRANSLATION: in German, thanks to Manfred and Jeanette; or in Spanish, thanks to a team of Ana, Erick, Claudia and Patricio, or in Portuguese, thanks to helpers of Orlando Trentini in Brazil.  A voluntary French translation by Rodger Glokpor, a Christian Scientist from Togo (West Africa) has been contributed in the past.  Thank you, Rodger and all translators! Go to http://www.cedarscamps.org/and click "Newsletters" to sign-up for a free translation into these languages.  This sharing is the latest in an ongoing, 14-year series of CedarS Bible Lesson "Mets" (Metaphysical application ideas) contributed weekly by a rotation of CedarS Resident Practitioners and occasionally by other metaphysicians.  (Ask and look for "Possible Sunday School Topics "and "Possible Younger Class Lessons" in emails to follow.) These weekly offerings are intended to encourage further study and application of ideas in the lesson and to invigorate Sunday School participation by students and by the budding teachers on our staff. Originally sent JUST to my Sunday School students and to campers, staff and CedarS families who wanted to continue at home and in their home Sunday Schools the same type of focused Lesson study, application and inspiration they had felt at camp, CedarS lesson "Mets "and Sunday School ideas are in no way meant to be definitive or conclusive or in any way serve as a substitute for daily study of the lesson. The thoughts presented are the inspiration of the moment and are offered to give a bit more dimension and background as well as new angles (and angels) on the daily applicability of some of the ideas and passages being studied. The weekly Bible Lessons are copyrighted by the Christian Science Publishing Society and are printed in the Christian Science Quarterly and in a variety of useful formats as available at Christian Science Reading Rooms or online at eBibleLesson.com or myBibleLesson.com. The citations referenced (i.e.B-1 and S-28) from this week's Bible Lesson in the "Met" (Metaphysical application ideas) are taken from the Bible (B-1 thru B-26) and the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health With Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy (S-1 thru S-32). The Bible and Science and Health are the ordained pastor of the Churches of Christ, Scientist.  The Bible Lesson is the sermon read in Christian Science church services throughout the world. The Lesson-Sermon speaks individually through the Christ to everyone, providing unique insights and tailor-made applications for each one.  We are glad you requested this metaphysical sharing and hope that you find some of the ideas helpful in your daily spiritual journey, in your deeper digging in the books and in closer bonding with your Comforter and Pastor.]
