PSST - PSST: Declare harmony, kindness, brotherly love, equality, opportunity, prosperity must be so across all nations and people!

Merrill Boudreaux, CS -- St. Louis MO

[PSST: Declare harmony, kindness, brotherly love, equality, opportunity, prosperity must be so across all nations and people!]
Possible Sunday School Topics for the Christian Science Bible Lesson

Is the Universe, Including Man, Evolved by Atomic Force?

December 14-20, 2015

prepared by Merrill Boudreaux, CS pegasus6524@gmail.com

P.S.S.T. Golden Text – Ask students to share moments of gratitude. Anchor this lesson with a fact stated in the Golden Text: “…let men say among the nations, The Lord reigneth.” Is this an inclusive truth? Is anyone left out? If indeed The Lord reigns among all nations, then what can we declare must be so across all nations and people? Harmony, kindness, brotherly love, equality, opportunity, prosperity...

P.S.S.T. Responsive Reading – Make a list of what the Lord saith in the Responsive Reading.

P.S.S.T. Section 1 – How is the universe and man to be interpreted? (S-4)
What would you say is the difference between the universe interpreted by Science and the universe interpreted by the physical senses? Remember there are not two universes. Interpreted by Science, life is continuous for all things.

To what does the term Science refer? (S-5) What do you think it means that Science is demonstrable? Can you today apply the scientific laws of creation, or Mind’s control over the universe? What will be and is the result? See citation B-6 as an aid.

Read aloud together Hymn 45 from The Christian Science Hymnal (printed below).

P.S.S.T. Section 2 – What is the demand in citation B-9? What are we called upon to do? Come near, hear. What shall we hear? (B-10) Why have the people been brought forth? Is showing forth praise a temporary thing? Has God abandoned Her people? See also citation S-8. What constitutes man and all nations? (S-9) Are these qualities temporary or do we have them today? What is the scientific fact about man and the universe (including all nations)? (S-11)

Ask students to memorize citation B-7 from Malachi.

P.S.S.T. Section 3 – Read together the Bible story in citation B-11. This child who was conceived was named John. We know him as John the Baptist, Jesus’ cousin. How else was he described in citation B-12? What do your students know about John the Baptist? What cannot God do?

P.S.S.T. Section 4 – Read together the Bible story in citation B-14. Here we have material law of the physical senses being set aside, revealing the universe and its actions interpreted by Science. What was the result of the illumination of Mary’s spiritual sense? (S-17)

P.S.S.T. Section 5 – Is the Lord thy God mighty? Is the Lord thy God still with thee, right here right now? Is the Lord thy God ever available to all nations? Then, is every nation – all people – subject to the God of the universe?

Read the rest of the Bible story in citation B-16 [and maybe part of the CC commentary posted in a Download from the online version of CedarS Met.] There is a declaration by Mary in citation B-16, verses 46-49, that is known as The Magnificat. Can you also make such a declaration? Has God done magnificent things to you, for you? What is the result of this spiritual fact for you and all peoples of all nations? (S-26)

Ask students to declare what they understand harmony to be and what it looks like in their lives and in our universe? This understanding and declaration – harmony – might be the greatest Christmas gift they can give to our world.

P.S.S.T. Section 6 – Declare who you are in citation B-21. Do you know right well what has been done unto you, your own Magnificat? Declare also the truth of your creation in citation S-31. To whom and for whom is the fact revealed?

Read together Hymn 52 from the Christian Science Hymnal (printed below). Declare who is included in the truths stated in this hymn. This is so now and forever! Amen.

Hymn 45:
Dear God, how glorious is Thy name Through all the earth and sea and sky.
The wondrous heavens, Thy handiwork, The moon and stars hast Thou ordained.
Such tender beauty, Lord, from Thee Is shed abroad o’er all the earth;
In bird, in sunbeam, light and flower Thy grace and goodness may be seen.
For this Thy gift unspeakable, The beauty of Love’s holiness,
We lift our hearts in grateful song And would be always praising Thee.

Hymn 52:
Eternal Mind the Potter is, And thought th’ eternal clay:
The hand that fashions is divine, His works pass not away.
Man is the noblest work of God, His beauty, power and grace,
Immortal; perfect as his Mind Reflected face to face.
God could not make imperfect man His model infinite;
Unhallowed thought He could not plan, Love’s work and Love must fit.
Life, Truth and Love the pattern make, Christ is the perfect heir;
The clouds of sense roll back, and show The form divinely fair.
God’s will is done; His kingdom come; The Potter’s work is plain.
The longing to be good and true Has brought the light again.
And man does stand as God’s own child, The image of His love.
Let gladness ring from every tongue, And heaven and earth approve.
