P.S.S.T. Golden Text – What is the message from God to each of us stated in the Golden Text, “…I am God, even thy God”? Does this indicate the personal relationship between God and you, between God and every idea God made? Let’s examine that personal relationship identified in this Lesson.

P.S.S.T. Responsive Reading – What are direct statements to you found in the Responsive Reading?

  • Fear not; for I am with thee
  • I will strengthen thee
  • I will help thee
  • I have called thee by thy name
  • Thou art mine
  • …thou was precious in my sight… and I have loved thee
  • ye are my witnesses
  • my servant whom I have chosen

P.S.S.T. Section 1 – What was the personal relationship God had with Moses in this section? Listen in to their conversation in citation B2. Why is it important and instructional to know of this personal relationship between God and Moses? B4. We all stand on the shoulders of giants, those who have come before and whose lives instruct our own. Ask students to share examples of individuals who have been significant in instructing their lives, especially their spiritual growth.

Instruction often starts at the beginning. What is the starting point of divine Science? S2. What was the follow-on to Moses’ conversation with God? Think about the phrase, “…the grand human capacities of being bestowed by immortal Mind” (S3). With God, Mind’s personal relationship with us, what cannot we do, what cannot we accomplish?

P.S.S.T. Section 2 – As we look to God’s personal relationship with us, read citation B7 to identify why God made us. How long will we be in relationship with God? B8 and B9 lines 9-12 and 14-16. Because of God’s personal relationship with us, we can ask God, Mind, any question and expect/receive an answer. See citation B7 line 22.

P.S.S.T. Section 3 – What is the certainty of God’s care for us stated in citations B11 and B13? What does Christian Science tell us of God’s relationship with us? S11. What synonyms for God are listed in the Science & Health portion of this section? Ask students to take each of those synonyms and then state how God identified in those synonyms can be a personal aid or support to them. All of these synonyms hint at the unchangeable personal relationship God has with us. See S&H 249:6-8. What we often call intuition is actually God personally speaking to us as one of those synonyms. Quietness, stillness is an essential quality to receive these angel messages from our personal God. See S&H 15:16-18 and 224:25-27. Read together Hymn 222 from the Christian Science Hymnal (below) for a beautiful statement of quietness revealing the Christ or God with us in every personal private moment. This way we can have Christmas throughout the year.

P.S.S.T. Section 4 – What a personal statement to you is in citation B14.

B15 reinforces God as Father and Mother. Healing is an essential aspect, because of God’s personal relationship with us. Would you agree then that we are each governed by God? How does God’s government assure healing? S22 and S21. Ask students to memorize citation S22 (SH 495:14-20). This is both a personal command and assurance of God speaking to you.

P.S.S.T. Section 5 – Read aloud together the Bible portion of this section. What is God saying to you in this section?

  • …beside me there is no God
  • …he will save …he will joy over thee with singing
  • …God …art the confidence (your confidence)
  • crownest the year with goodness

In December 1939 – in the midst of World War II – England’s King George VI shared the following with the people of Great Britain and the world:

“I said to the man who stood at the Gate of the Year, ‘Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown.’ And he replied, ‘Go out into the darkness, and put your hand into the Hand of God. That shall be better than light, and safer than a known way.’”

What a significant statement of God’s personal relationship with us regardless of the human condition in the world.

Read also citation B25. This is known as the Aaronic Blessing. What Aaron said to the Children of Israel is also a fitting prayer for us to welcome the New Year.

Knowing that God, Mind, Life, Truth, Soul, Spirit, Love, Principle, is personally caring for you and leading you portends a new year of promise and progress. S28.

Read together Hymn 236 from the Christian Science Hymnal (below).

--------------------------------------------------

Hymn 222:

O little town of Bethlehem, How still we see thee lie; Above thy deep and dreamless sleep The silent stars go by; Yet in thy dark streets shineth The everlasting Light; The hopes and fears of all the years Are met in thee tonight.

O morning stars, together Proclaim the holy birth, And praises sing to God the King, And peace to men on earth; Where charity stands watching And faith holds wide the door, The dark night wakes, the glory breaks, And Christmas comes once more.

How silently, how silently, The wondrous gift is given; So God imparts to human hearts The blessings of His heaven. No ear may hear his coming, But in this world of sin, Where meekness will receive him, still The dear Christ enters in.

Hymn 236:

O peace of the world, O hope in each breast, O Bethlehem star that ages have blest, A day of fresh promise breaks over the land, Gaunt warfare is doomed, and God’s kingdom at hand!

From cannon and sword shape tillers of soil, No more let dire hate man’s spirit despoil, Let Truth be proclaimed, let God’s love be retold, That men of good will may their brethren uphold.

As stars in their courses never contend, As blossoms their hues in harmony blend, As bird voices mingle in joyful refrain, So God’s loving children in concord remain.

Our God is one Mind, the Mind we adore; Ineffable joy His love doth outpour; Let nations be one in a union of love, God’s bountiful peace, all earth’s treasures above.
