W's PS--Obey Christ's command, Go, and sin no more!

W’s Post Scripts: Obey Christ’s command, “Go, and Sin No More” (1)
Insights from Cobbey Crisler and Ken Cooper on select citations for
“Everlasting Punishment” May 5, 2019

Warren’s (W’s) PS#1Ken Cooper’s monologue this week “Go and Sin No More” comes from Jesus’ words to the woman caught in adultery in John 8:11 (B11). You can Download it in PDF text format from online versions of this week’s CedarS Met and this week’s online Post Scripts which are both always available to browse by author and year at CedarS Metaphysical website.]

Ken writes: “The Golden Text gives to all the joy that the past is past, for God, Love, sees only the present and God and man are one. Jesus saw this so clearly. It completely reversed the curse of materiality, and revealed the now of perfect God and perfect man as freedom from all sin. The woman caught in adultery was not condemned but rather redeemed. When she saw her true self, as loved by God for her true nature and as Jesus saw her, the belief of sin was consigned to nothingness for ever, the past was no longer in her present and she was free. “Go and sin no more” becomes a statement of fact (like the Ten Commandments) for all of us. Punishment is not freedom, can never be of God, infinite Love. It is a belief of materiality, to be dropped for ever in the recognition of God’s unconditional Love which embraces all creation as His own, as the loved of Love.

W’s PS#2—Cobbey Crisler on Jeremiah 31:3 (B3):

In Chapter 31, which is Jeremiah’s greatest chapter, he predicts the new covenant will come. He defines it. In Verse 3 he shows that the new covenant is definitely based on the comprehension of God as love. It’s that very “lovingkindness” that will draw all mankind to God for the solution of the world problems.”

W’s PS#3—(ALL 10 Specs are available as a separate Downloadable PDF at the upper right of this webpage) I hope you enjoy applying my insight to treat each of the Ten Commandment as “Spirit, the great architect"’s Specs written to BLESS and protect you and me. (S&H 68) This Mary Baker Eddy quote from Science and Health and its application ideas below have inspired me for over 40 years since God first showed me the connection when I was studying for my architectural licensing exam. References in this week’s lesson to Commandments #1, #2, #6 & #7 (and their specs below) are in citations B6, S9, B10, B11, B12, B13, S13, S14…

Architects use the following ten categories or Ten Specifications (Specs) to guarantee the quality and longevity of their work. As our Master architect and sole "builder and maker," Spirit, God, has done the same for us as His temple—“Gods building” (SH 428:12, Heb. 10:11, I Cor.3:9). I hope you enjoy finding and applying the fun links between these 10 Specs, the Ten Commandments and the healings of your own body and others’.

The ten God's-eye views of the spiritual you that follow—written by “*the finger of God”— bring health to the body by looking AWAY from it to God, instead of looking AT the body or TO it, as if it were in control. (*Deut. 9:10, Luke 11:20) In these powerful, Ten-Commandments views of the real you, you can see how they work as your Divine Identity Protection Plan set up and upheld by "Spirit, the great architect." (S&H 68)

1st Architectural Specification (Spec): GENERAL CONDITIONS: Your highest selfhood shall (can) have "no other gods before me." (Ex. 20:3)

This spec sets forth the principles and laws that govern the whole project. The 1st Commandment was Mrs. Eddy's favorite text (S&H 340:16) and should guide every aspect of our lives. It has been paraphrased in an animated, podcast series on the 10 Commandments for The Mother Church Sunday School resources by our son Barry Huff as "Don't put something in God's place that's not up to the job."

Test yourself often on this 1st-Commandment idolatry indicator: "whatever you think about most is your god. Is it up to the job?" Self-absorbed sensuality, body worship, personal sense and belittling of self are some of the idolatrous, self-focused beliefs that are clearly not up to God's job.

So, stop belittling yourself and keep seeing yourself as happily at one with infinite Mind, God! GENERAL CONDITION AFFIRMATIONS: Declare to yourself often, and convincingly: "I am fearfully and wonderfully made (by God as His/Her "image and likeness" (Gen. 1:26, 27) to have everything I need) and I know it 'right' well."

2nd Architectural Spec: SELECTIVE REMOVALS: Your highest selfhood shall "not make unto thee any graven image." (Ex. 20:4)

SELECTIVE REMOVAL/DENIALS: This spec specifically delineates everything that must be removed for the project to progress. Daily remove obstacles to progress by denying the claim that any obsession, addiction, false dependency, inherent weakness or habit can be engraved in you or can in-grave you. "With God alone agree!" (CS Hymnal #5:2)

A 3rd-section removal guideline makes way for transformation: "Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." (Rom. 12:2) Further removal instructions are to "divest thought of false trusts and material evidences" (S&H 428:8).

6th Architectural Spec: WOODS & PLASTICS: Your highest selfhood shall (can) "not kill" (Ex. 20:13) or get angry, hateful or even verbally abusive. (Matt. 5:20-24)

This spec sets forth the quality control standards needed to end up with the sturdy wood framework and beautiful wood finish work desired. When bearing what Christ Jesus calls his easy yoke and light burden (Matt. 11:30) of being a stress-free reflection of God, there's no unbearable pressure or tension that can cause a spiritual idea to snap in anger and so kill another's joy or to splinter a precious friendship. In a world crying out for peaceful solutions, let's take every opportunity we can to be flexible, forgiving peace- makers instead of brittle "goat-getters" and war-mongerers.

7th Architectural Spec: THERMAL & MOISTURE PROTECTION: Your highest selfhood shall (can) "not commit adultery" (Ex. 20:14) and lust after bodily pleasures. (Matt. 5:27-28)

This spec sets forth the quality control standards needed to end up with the dry, cozy and efficiently climate- controlled home you expect.

You wouldn't dream of living in a house without a roof or without insulated, weather-tight elements. So, never accept leaky-roof or no-roof thinking! And stop letting the winds of temptations blow right through you! Allow God's love to insulate and adultery-proof you like it did Jesus. See how he "threw the book" at temptations in Matt. 4:3-11 by using memorized, scriptural nuggets that he had made his own.

In his Sermon on the Mount, Jesus goes after the root of adultery when it is little, when it is just lustful temptations. (See and consider memorizing Matt. 5:27-29) Paul tells the Romans "to be carnally (bodily) minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace." (Memorize Rom. 8:6.) Knowing therefore that sensuality is really just a clever terrorist that comes disguised as good, as pleasurable, and as our own thought, makes it harder for this warring killer "to elude detection" (S&H 252:19). In a rush to be adults, many teens so mentally download the alluring images of beautiful bodies that they "buy into" the adult-ery and the unexpected slavery of body worship and the theft of their identity. By being alert to this thief and murderer in our midst, we will not commit ADULT-ery by letting the belief leak in that we need anything material or adult-rated to make us happy and peacefully satisfied.

Insulate and seal yourself by repeating often that "In God I have everything I need and I know it." If the mission of Terror and error (Pharaoh and Herod) is to get rid of the childlikeness that is praised and practiced by Christ Jesus, let us give all our alertness and strength to protect and defend childlikeness in ourselves and others. (See Misc. 110:4!)

W’s PS#4a—Cobbey Crisler on John 8.3-32 (B18)—Jesus saves woman taken in adultery:
“John 8:3 Suddenly here is “a woman taken in adultery.” One should at least ask the question, where is the husband who would usually make the charge, and where is the fellow she was with? How come only the woman is here?

The event takes place in the area of the temple. If the stones suddenly start flying, both Jesus and the woman were there. Who did they really care about eliminating?

John 8:5 They face him with a rabbinical question. “Moses said that this lady should be stoned. What do you say?...

John 8:6, While they’re all saying this, Jesus has disappeared from view, which would actually happen to those in the rear rows if they’ve encircled. You have to look around. Where did he go? He just disappeared. He’s writing on the ground. A record about as evanescent as the material in which he’s writing. Is that the permanent record of womanhood? It’s a dust record. A dust record that can be dominated by the first foot that walks over and decides to change it or trample it.

John 8:7, “They keep asking him,” because he’s doing nothing but writing on the ground. This is a brilliant way to control a mob. It was a method that was successful. He has kept the mob from being an unthinking gang. He’s kept them all as individuals because they’re thinking, “What’s he doing? What’s he doing?”

“So they continue asking.” He says “He that is ‘anamartetos’, that is, above error, who never erred or who cannot error or sin among you, let him first throw a stone.” He hasn’t objected to Moses’ sentence. He hasn’t set himself apart. He simply returned the sentence to everyone’s individual conscience and let it be established in the mental courtrooms of those present. You can’t have a mob scene when conscience is at work individually. That’s what destroys a mob.

John 8:8, “Again he stoops down and writes on the ground”— giving them a chance for it to work. It’s an impersonal treatment of the situation for all concerned. No condemnation. No anything.

John 8:9, What happened? “They filtered out and they began at the eldest.” This is a significant start. The custom in the Sanhedrin… was that after a decision of any major import was made, the youngest left first. The honor was for the eldest to be the last one you saw.

Not in this case. The eldest were the first you saw leaving. This is not surprising when you think since they had been around longer, they likely had accumulated more sin. So, the eldest left first. “The woman is left standing in the midst.”

John 8:10 What is Jesus going to do? Is he for permissiveness? He said, “Woman” again, “womanhood”, “Where are your accusers? No man hath condemned you?”

John 8:11, “I’m not in that business either. But,” and you can imagine the authority that went behind this, “go, and sin no more.” Terminate that link to the flesh.”

W’s PS#5—Cobbey Crisler on Matt. 9:2-6 (B13), the healing value of good cheer & forgiveness:
“Verse 2, Chapter 9: ‘We have a man in bed with the palsy.” Can you imagine Jesus going by a man who had been that long without moving and telling him to “be of good cheer”? But there’s nothing Jesus said that he didn’t discern was needed. What that man needed, more than physical movement, was to be of good cheer. Jesus said, “Thy sins be forgiven thee.” Jesus knew at a glance the whole history of a case.”
(Verse 3). The scribes say, “This man blasphemes.” In order to get the healing, he has to eliminate the theological obstruction to healing first.
(Verse 5). He says, “What is easier? To say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk?”
(Verse 6). “Because the Son of man does have power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy), Arise, take up thy bed, and he goes.”

W’s PS#6—Cobbey Crisler on Jeremiah 17:14 (B15):
17th Chapter of Jeremiah, Verse 14, “Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed.” There’s Jeremiah’s prayer. “Save me and I shall be saved.” The Anchor Bible points out that the word “salvation” as used in the Old Testament is often used in terms of a not-guilty verdict in court. Salvation is often used in the Old Testament in terms that we would understand today as a not-guilty verdict in court.

The salvation of man would eventually include a verdict of not-guilty, or innocent. This is, of course, the entire theme of Job, his guilt or innocence.”
