GEM#1: Use freedom’s power to “do as we ought…for the purpose of service… in the interests of love,” NOT “to do as we like” and so find ourselves in “deeper bondage to the flesh.” The Interpreter’s Bible: A Commentary in Twelve Volumes. Vol. 10, Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians.

As the Golden Text for this week’s Christian Science Quarterly Bible Lesson on “Spirit” puts it, "Wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom." II Corinthians 3:17 New Living Translation, copyright © 1996, 2004, 2015 by Tyndale House Foundation.

As research in the Christian Science Publishing Society’s “Bible Lens” elaborates:
To Paul, liberty goes beyond release from physical bondage, Roman occupation, and the restrictions of Jewish law to the freedom of serving God. As a Bible authority explains, “True liberty is not the freedom to do as we like; it is the power to do as we ought.… unless we use our liberty for the purpose of service,in the interests of love, we shall find ourselves in a deeper bondage, the bondage to the flesh.” The Interpreter’s Bible: A Commentary in Twelve Volumes. Vol. 10, Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians.

GEM#2: Constantly re-Mind yourself of Genesis 1 origin facts vs. Genesis 2 genetic fables! Cobbey Crisler on freedom from the flesh according to Paul in bonus verses from Romans 8, Verses 5 and 6. (citation B5, before the Responsive Reading verses): For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” (KJV)

[Warren] The Contemporary English Version (CEV) translates this citation as “People who are ruled by their desires think only of themselves. Everyone who is ruled by the Holy Spirit thinks about spiritual things. If our minds are ruled by our desires, we will die. But if our minds are ruled by the Spirit, we will have life and peace.”

[Warren] The Living Bible (TLB) renders these verses: Those who let themselves be controlled by their lower natures live only to please themselves, but those who follow after the Holy Spirit find themselves doing those things that please God. 6 Following after the Holy Spirit leads to life and peace, but following after the old nature leads to death.”
Cobbey Crisler writes about how Paul continues to develop this theme in Romans 8, Verse 9. “How many auditoriums would empty in ridicule if Paul stood before them today and announced, “You are not in the flesh”? That’s an invitation to laughter, isn’t it? “You are not in the flesh,” Paul said. Flesh is not the container, then, of our individuality. We [are encouraged to think that] we are [our bodies]. We’re proud of that “fact”. We have turned the glory into shame by thinking out from the basis of flesh. We suffer from the incurred problems of an evolution that traces itself back through dust-like levels, so that heredity becomes a problem in health. We take pride in those “designer-genes” that form our genetic code.

"In the Bible it’s a case of choosing between Genesis or genetics. Genesis (1:1, 25) has us in the beginning created by God with dominion and in God’s image. So, flesh cannot be part of that image. Where are we seeing ourselves? “Adam, where art thou?” (Genesis 3:9)

"Where are we instead of in the flesh according to Romans 8, Verse 9? We’re “in the spirit” That’s home, then. Do we really feel at home in the Spirit? To be inspired is to have Spirit within, literally, in Latin. Do we enjoy living in an inspired state? Everything moves aside. Everything is subordinated to that inspiration. “we’re in the Spirit, if the Spirit of God dwells in us.”…

(bonus verses from Romans 8 on both sides of our Responsive Reading verses)
In Verse 19 would you agree with Paul that “the earnest expectation of the whole human race is waiting for this manifestation of the sons of God”? That it could be manifested, this sense of glory?

“Verse 21 mentions “the creature itself.” Look what is going to happen to the human body as the result of the evangelization of our mentality. As our mentality becomes more and more like God, the human body, “the creature itself, also shall be delivered.” There’s freedom, freedom from “every ill that flesh is heir to,” as Shakespeare says. “Delivered from the slavery,” literally in Greek, “the bondage of corruption,” “the slavery of decay into,” literally, “the freedom of the children of God.” The divine mode of being, as one dictionary says glory is, “into the freedom of the glory of the divine mode of being, of the divine nature, of the radiant thought of the children of God.”

"If (only) all our thoughts could be at the level of such radiance. We’ve seen light come out from a human expression. We’ve met people who radiate a sense of insight… That’s in the fleshly. That’s simply an outward manifestation of what’s going on within. More should be going on within. And we’re spending most of our time trying to dress the without.”

GEM#3: Let the Spirit wipe out systemic divisiveness and animosity!
Cobbey Crisler on John 4:24 (B1) & his long conversation with the receptive woman at the well in Samaria:

John 4:20. The woman said, "Our fathers worshiped in this mountain.'' Boy, did that have a meaning. She's pointing to the Samaritan temple, and guess who had destroyed it? The Jews. The Maccabean rulers had destroyed the Samaritan temple which was built to resemble the Jerusalem temple. It's occupied territory. It's a little difficult to dig in an area that Jordan still claims but Israel occupies.

It was destroyed by the Jews, so you can see the irony behind what the woman said, "Our fathers worshiped … “It’s past. It's through. The Greek word that is used there is well in the past, "all wiped out." We worshiped in this mountain, but the implication, guess who stopped us, or ruined the temple? Your fathers. We have a divisive thing. We, the Samaritans, worshiped here. You, the Jews, destroyed it. That's the same thing that's going on today in the same location.

John 4:21, "Jesus said, Woman.” this is his general address to womanhood, "Believe me. the hour cometh, " still somewhat ahead, "when you won’t worry about geography in worshiping God. ··

John 4:23, ''The hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. “Look at the definition of worship. “Worship is spiritual," not structural, not geographical, not ritualistic. Why? Because worship of God can only properly be done by partaking of God's own nature.

John 4:24 tells us that "God is Spirit. Therefore, worshiping Spirit can only be done spiritually." There's no other way to do it. How basic. By the way, when you see "a Spirit" in there. It shouldn’t be there.

Listen to what God says about it. Notice the strong tenor of his words. To translate "God is a Spirit" is the most gross perversion of the meaning. "A Spirit" implies one of a class of "pneumata," the Greek word for it. There is no trace, in the fourth gospel, of the vulgar conception of a multitude of spirits. “God is Spirit.” Mathematically one can only derive from Spirit included in it. Namely, spirituality is the derivation. Worship must be that.”
“John, The Beloved Disciple,” by B. Cobbey Crisler**

GEM#4: Answer identity questions as dominion man (or woman) not dominated man (or woman)! Cobbey Crisler on Psalms 8 (B4): “What is man?”
“Psalms 8, Verse 4. What is the presumption behind biblical therapy? What is its premise? We know it would be based on the question in verse 4 in part, “What is man?” That has been the most elusive answer to any question for the human race, except, perhaps, what is God? Who am I? The great unanswered question. Or does the Bible provide answers that fill that gap in thought, that vacuity? The answer given here biblically is “Thou madest him to have dominion.” (Ps. 8:6)
You need to have a premise on which to base the whole idea or concept of biblical healing or therapy. It’s based on the fact that man has dominion. Of course, that immediately recalls to us God’s pronouncement of that effect in Genesis 1 [Verse 26]. If dominion is part of the nature of man, what does that say about man’s ability to get rid of disease? We can’t have dominion and be dominated simultaneously. The logic of that premise requires us to search out more deeply what the Bible is telling us about man’s nature as it relates to God because it’s on that basis that we are having these prescriptions filled…
If it’s God’s theology, according to the Bible, it works. God’s theology in the Bible can never be confined to theory. When God spake, what happened? It was done. That’s how quickly His medicine works…
“In biblical terms, [Psalms 8:6], “Thou makest him to have dominion.” What is there about this fact that we can apply? Are the Psalms, in part, the threshold of our discovery of this throughout the entire Bible?”
“Leaves of the Tree: Prescriptions from Psalms,” by B. Cobbey Crisler**

GEM#5: Rejoice in living the four elements of your being and “God’s being”—your divine identity of “INFINITY, FREEDOM, HARMONY, BOUNDLESS BLISS.”
These words are carved into 5-ft. long signs at CedarS Cable Ski launch as you can see by clicking the top upper-right Download. Have fun applying them to yourself as noted below!

One-liner, word equations in Science & Health are “textbook” illustrations of the “Transitive Property of Equality” (www.mathwords.com) (See page 470:23 and 481:3)

470:23 (the first of two simple, one-line, word equations under review) states:
(a) “Man is (=) (b) the expression of God’s being.”

Science & Health (citation S4 this week (p. 481:3) the second of two, simple, one-line, word equations under review) states:
(b) “God’s being is (=) (c) infinity, freedom, harmony, and boundless bliss.”

[W: Let’s apply to ourselves the Transitive Property of Equality: If a = b and b = c, then a = c.]

(a) “Man or YOU is/are (=) (c) the expression of infinity, freedom, harmony, and boundless bliss.”

Therefore, like CedarS Cable Ski system, its skiers and the “Energizer Bunny,”
YOU express the synonyms for Infinity including: inexhaustibility, eternity, limitlessness, immeasurability, perpetuity (See https://www.thesaurus.com/browse/rodule )

Like CedarS Cable Skiers and the Statue of Liberty,
YOU express the synonyms for freedom including: opportunity, power, ability, exemption, flexibility, immunity, privilege, right, discretion, facility, leeway, liberty, prerogative, range, scope, unrestraint, carte blanche, elbowroom, free rein, full play, full swing, plenty of rope

Like CedarS Cable Skiers and Band, Chorus, Cabin or Family members,
YOU express the synonyms for harmony including: cooperation, friendship, consistency, good will, kinship, peace, rapport, tranquility, unanimity, understanding, unity, accord, amicability, compatibility, concord, like-mindedness

Like CedarS Cable Skiers, Happy Campers and Stress-free Reflections,
YOU express the synonyms for boundless bliss including: unchangeable blessedness, inexhaustible happiness, unlimited gladness, untold joy…

The reign of “infinity, freedom, harmony, and boundless bliss” rules out of you all their opposites (antonyms) of limitation; restraint, restriction, slavery; Inharmony, Strife, disagreement, discord, fighting; depression, sadness, sorrow, unhappiness, grief, upset

GEM#6 : Ken Cooper again has customized contributions for this week's Christian Science Bible Lesson on "Spirit."

[Ken writes:] "'In the beginning, before mortal time began, the Word, the voice of God, was already speaking, declaring and expressing Love. The fresh breath of Spirit danced with the joy of Soul, expressing the freedom and abundance of its infinity. And God’s thoughts were made manifest as man, – perfect, pure, spiritual, living free in the infinite kingdom that is God expressed. In this week’s lesson we read “God’s being is infinity, freedom, harmony, and boundless bliss”, and man reflects, is the very image, of what God is.

While we may be restricted by law to physical lockdowns, as we live in the Spirit we always have the kingdom of heaven as our true home, and every day is an unlimited holyday! We can learn more about our holiday by listening to what is available: The intercommunication is always from God to His idea, man.” (SH 284:31-32), and in listening we find our freedom confirmed. The poem LISTEN is a Christian Science holiday brochure!

Also in the lesson we have “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” II Tim. 1:7. The experience of Jairus is a wonderful proof of the power of one Mind having the wisdom and knowledge of infinite Spirit. In listening we hear the words “Fear not”, for God is perfect, All. Jairus' Daughter shares the father’s thoughts and revelations

The words in pdf versions are attached to CedarS online Met as upper right Downloads.

Also shared is the link to a poem published in the Sentinel The Breath of Spirit

GEM#7—Prioritize healing over rank and clear out funerial mourning—
Cobbey Crisler on Jesus raising Jairus’ daughter in Luke 8:41-55 (citation 10)
“In this case we have something that might present a problem. Two people that need attention simultaneously. What do you do?… Here’s how Jesus deals with it. He is first summoned by a ruler of the synagogue with a great deal of human priority. Jairus has the rank and he asks first. He’s got a more urgent need. His daughter is on the verge of dying (Luke 8:41). But Jesus can’t even get to the location where this girl is because of the crush of people in the narrow lanes of the Palestinian villages. The Greek word for “thronged” is often used to describe how close these groups got to one another. Jesus was nearly suffocated by the crowd.

Later the disciples rebuked Jesus, in Verse 45, for asking “Who touched me?” To them it was ridiculous. Everybody was touching him. The Greek verb that’s used is a verb that means what happens to grain kernels between two grinding stones. They were ground really together. The people were that crowded.

What happens? The woman does not wish to delay Jesus’ mission, but she is at the absolutely desperate end of a rope. Here we find the receptivity. Blessed are those who are in this state. Happy are those because the state of mind can be changed.

This radical change of thought was in the presence of the Christ-correction that Jesus was exercising in the mental realm. It’s going to be sufficient and the woman feels that it will help her. She’s lost all her money on physicians. [No health insurance…] Mark even tells us that she’s worse because of that choice. [Mark 5:26] All she does is touch the border of his garment. The issue of blood, the continuous hemorrhaging that had occurred for twelve years had kept her out of the temple, kept her out of worship and made her as unclean as the lepers. With all sorts of legislative rules around her, she herself could not be touched because it would make the individual who did it unclean. But we find that Jesus welcomed that dear woman from the standpoint of God’s welcome, because he said, “the Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the father do.” (John 5:19).

In Luke 8, Verse 48 he calls that lady, “Daughter.” Who’s daughter? Certainly, not his. In fact, he lifts that word “daughter” entirely out of any sense of blood relationship. That was the woman’s problem. He lifts even her identity out of blood.

Daughter, be of good comfort” (Verse 48). Look at how he’s addressing the thought of that woman. Not only the precious relationship to God, but the comfort. She hasn’t experienced that in twelve years. She’d lost all her money. She was about to be thrown on the society. There was nowhere to go when you were thrown on society. That may have happened to the woman who had been a sinner. Prostitution was the only open career for many women when they were simply thrown out and discarded from normal humanity. She could not get a living unless her family supported her, and there is no indication of that happening.

Jesus refuses to allow that woman to walk away from the scene thinking that physical contact with his robe had anything to do with the healing. He says, again, “Your faith hath made you whole.” The word “whole” and the word “heal” in Anglo-Saxon have the identical root. It implies that disease is something less than wholeness, that it is a fragmentation of our being. Healing is the condition of being made whole.

We understand that equation when Jesus said, “If your eye be single” Matthew 6:22), indivisible, not shared, no divisions in it and no double vision. It is single-mindedness and persistency, as we see Jesus requiring later in our book, which results in man being whole as God views him.

When he goes to the raising of Jairus’ daughter, we don’t find any reason to bemoan the delay in getting there. Even though the news comes back that the daughter has died in the mean time (Verse 49). That is the human news. Jesus goes right in and clears the environment out (Verse 51). Notice, again, this must be telling us something about what is required in order to heal.

The thought of death is so weighted down with its inevitability and grief that Jesus has to clear it out. Notice how he does so, incisively and brilliantly. He couldn’t clear them out while they were weeping. That was acceptable at a funeral. Jesus would have occupied the villain’s role.

So, he simply tells them something that was an absolute fact to him, “That maid, right there that you see horizontal, no movement, no breath, no pulse, no anything, that little girl, she’s really not dead. That appearance that you see there is like sleep (Verse 52). And I am going to awaken her life.” All the paid mourners who were earning their salary for conducting a funeral service, and everybody else who had witnessed the tragedy associated with this little girl passing away laughed (Verse 53).

Can you clear laughers out of funerals? There is certainly more justification from a social standpoint than with weepers. It also showed how deeply their grief had run. Forgetting every reason why they were there, they turned to laughing him to scorn. He put them all out.

He went to the little girl, “Maid arise” (Verse 54). “Her spirit came again, she arose straightway” (Verse 55). And that beautiful practicality of Jesus, “Give her meat,” give her something to eat (Verse 55). What else would a twelve-year-old girl want anyway? It was also an announcement that everything was quite normal.”

“Luke, the Researcher,” by B. Cobbey Crisler**

GEM#8: A divinely-ruled, case history on behalf of Kerry Jenkins, CS, on how to win healing and an innocent verdict in the court of Spirit by “maintaining the facts of Christian Science… with … unshaken understanding…”
On page 417 of Science and Health, Mary Baker Eddy lays down this law from her many cases of healing:
"Maintain the facts of Christian Science, that Spirit is God, and therefore cannot be sick; that what is termed matter cannot be sick; that all causation is Mind, acting through spiritual law. Then hold your ground with the unshaken understanding of Truth and Love, and you will win." (SH 417:10-16, citation S20)

CedarS Met contributor, Kerry Jenkins, CS, gives a case study precedent of applying this spiritual law:
“I had a really wonderful example of how this spiritual law is the only true law, when I was involved in a dog sledding accident.
I was tucked into the sled and my husband, Doug, was driving. We were really flying down a narrow trail between spruce trees. Things got a bit sideways and the sled flipped and came to a stop with my face between the trunk of a tree and the steering bow of the sled. The injury seemed pretty severe. But I remember deciding that I was going to do just what it said in the above quote and "Maintain the facts of Christian Science…". I decided not to even look in a mirror when I got home.

“I couldn't see out of one eye, but continued to maintain my sense of peace that there could be no accidents in a universe governed by Mind–no collisions in a universe of Spirit. By the second day I could see clearly once again. I didn't look at my face until three days later, just kept it clean and covered. When I got a glimpse, I had to laugh at the very vibrant colors mixed with a few remaining abrasions. By the next evening, when I was to sing in a concert, there was no sign whatsoever that anything had happened only four days before. I felt so embraced by this spiritual law of Love! There was no question that this healing was the result of an awareness of the supremacy of spiritual law.”
[Hear Kerry tell this after Section 4 in her CedarS Met on the Christian Science Bible Lesson for “Spirit” for August 9, 2020.]

GEM#9: Be moved by the Spirit in amazing ways when willing to give when & where needed. Cobbey Crisler on Philip baptizing an Ethiopian @ Gaza when he “said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God.” (Acts 8:37 in part, citation B11) plus surrounding verses in context
“Philip’s home town is Caesarea, and he’s probably at that point on the Mediterranean.

“And an angel of the Lord speaks to Philip saying, ‘Go to Gaza.’” (Acts 8:26)

Now, you have to understand that leaving Caesarea for Gaza is no decision that one would likely come by, even today. And, therefore, obviously, it’s not Philip’s idea. Human nature would have preferred to swing in its hammock looking out over the Mediterranean in Caesarea. But the angel, ignoring human nature, suggests that Philip “get off his hammock” and head south for Gaza because there is some divine purpose to be fulfilled. (Download map from upper right online.) Well, Philip goes down to Gaza, and he still doesn’t know why he’s there. And he’s “gazzing” around.

And, we find that, as he looks around, the landscape is only cluttered by one chariot, not moving, right there in the sands of the desert area. And a black man – now you raised that point about whether other races are to be involved now, in this developing concept of church.

Here we have “a black man of Ethiopia. And he’s very important. He’s maybe second or third in the kingdom.” (See Acts 8:27) …

“He’s under the queen of the Ethiopians in charge of the treasury, and he had come to Jerusalem to worship.”

There’s no way of knowing what link he might have had into the faith of Judaism but it’s fairly obvious that he was not a Jew by either race or nation. So, that is a breakthrough, potentially.

So, returning, he’s in his chariot, and he’s obviously wealthy because he can own a whole scroll of Isaiah. And since they were laboriously hand copied, and mostly synagogues owned them, you can imagine how much it was valued.

To give you a sense of proportion and chronology on this and to also increase your awareness of why The Dead Sea Scrolls are so important, we now possess – that is, humanity now possesses a copy of the Book of Isaiah almost in total. That is, could be, as much as 200 years older than the one held in the hand of the Ethiopian here. So, you can see how important that particular scroll is.

Now, the spirit says to Philip… And Philip is still standing there, like the chariot, but that’s a comfort: he’s standing there waiting for instructions. Many of us would be running around; which is…remember how Peter got itchy during the transfiguration?

He said while that was going on up there, “Is it okay Lord if I build three tabernacles down here”; he had to feel busy. (See Luke 9:33)…

Well, you know a lot of us kind of have to do that too.

But Philip is still waiting for his next instruction. And, the spirit says, ‘Go and join yourself to the chariot.’” (See Acts 8:29)

You’d think that was common sense; there’s nothing else out there…but, Philip hears him reading Isaiah out loud.

Now that’s the way they always used to do, even when they were alone. I know you’d think that was weird today, but they’d would think you were weird if they came to you alone, and you were reading to yourself. Somehow, that was kind of company, and they read it out loud.

“And hearing Isaiah, Philip knows it, and he said, ‘Do you understand what you’re reading?’” (See Acts 8:30)…

“And the Ethiopian says, ‘How can I unless someone teach me, someone guide me?’”… “And he asked Philip to come up and sit with him.” (See Acts 8:31)

Now, get what’s happening in church, this concept of church, as it develops.
We’ve had the Samaritans included. Here we have a black man and a white man in the fastest means of transportation known to man at that time, but is which is standing stock still. And both of them are traveling in an even more rapid rate through the scriptures – taking the “walk to Emmaus,” together, in the scripture. And Philip had arrived just when the spirit had planned for him to arrive because the eunuch had read through Isaiah, perhaps, or had just turned to the 53rd Chapter of Isaiah. (similar to Acts 8:32)

And Acts 8, verse 32 he’d gotten to the point about “he was led as a sheep to the slaughter, and like a lamb dumb before his shearers, opening not his mouth.” (See Acts 8:32) …

Acts 8:35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.

“Whom?” Do you have any doubt? He says, Phillip is saying at this early date in the Christian church that Isaiah 53 refers to Jesus.

Now, what was this all about? It seems like an awful lot of emphasis is being given to this. Philip is up in Caesarea, probably, or Samaria. He’s brought all the way down to Gaza because here this man is sitting in a chariot. He’s reading Isaiah. He arrived in time to hear him read something that Philip feels is a fulfillment of prophecy about Jesus.

He gets that message from Philip. He becomes a member through baptism of the Christian church, and off he goes, perhaps the first, representative of the black race included in Christianity. And it was the Spirit’s idea.

And, way back, you know, in the history of the black race, there must be some very early tradition. Certainly we know the heart behind Negro spirituals. And we know that even up to our present age that Haile Selassie, the last Emperor of Ethiopia, was a Christian emperor and prided himself in that. And how far back did those “roots” go? Could they be found in Acts, Chapter 8, where the spirit had just announced that the Christian church embraced mankind? And any other option, or concept, or opinion, or idea, was not God’s.

[Acts 8:36 “… and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? Verse 37: And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and “said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God.” (This eunuch’s quote is the part in this week’s lesson.)

Now, in Acts 8, verse 39, “The spirit of the Lord catches away Philip, the Ethiopian goes on his way rejoicing, and Philip comes back to Caesarea.”

Acts 8:40 But Philip was found at Azotus: and passing through he preached in all the cities, till he came to Caesarea.

[Cobbey answering question from the audience: This is Philip the evangelist, right. He had four daughters, four virgin daughters who in early Christian history (according to Eusebius in his Ecclesiastical history) are recorded to have even raised the dead, showing that women apparently were capable of healing at that level as well in the early Christian church.

…(Another question How long did it take to get from Gaza back to Caesarea?)

Well, it just depends whether you’re walking or the spirit is moving you. It’s much cheaper if the spirit moves you, even today the way air travel is going up.
…Here’s Caesarea here, and Gaza is down here. (Download map from upper right online.)
“After the Master What? The Book of Acts,”
by B. Cobbey Crisler**

GEM#10: Like Jesus, view matter in a radical way–sever all fleshly origin & connection.
Cobbey Crisler on John 6: 62 – 7:6 (verses on both sides of citation B12, John 6:63)
John 6:62, "What and if ye shall see the Son of Man ascend up where he was before?" Nativity in the Spirit. There can't be the magnetic pull back to earth if that connection has been severed or proved never to have been a real connection.

In John 6:63, Jesus impinges upon what has been considered laws of physics because he views matter in a radical way. He makes the statement, "It is the spirit that quickeneth.” That is where you find life. So if you want to talk about nativity anywhere, you better deal with origin and Spirit. "The flesh profiteth nothing.”

You see how close one needs to be to Jesus in thought to understand what has been referred to as the Communion Supper. If he is accurate in saying, "the flesh profiteth nothing, "neither would symbolically eating it profit anything. So, it must not be the flesh he is talking about, but that great transformation that he is proving in his life to be possible to the Son of Man. John 1:14 refers to it as "the Word that was made flesh.” The Word connects us to Spirit, not flesh. Here is part of that Word underscoring the message that, "It is the Spirit that quickeneth, the flesh profiteth nothing.

What happened in John 6:66? "Many walked right out," as soon as he had this radical statement to say about matter.

John 6:67. Jesus had to turn to the twelve, and said, “Will you go away?"

John 6:68. Peter had one of those classic remarks that he makes. It's really a lovely one. He looks around to the alternatives and says, "Lord, where will we go? You have the words of eternal life. " He got the message. The words of eternal life, not the flesh of eternal life. "You have the words of eternal life. "

Jesus' brethren in John 7:3 try to persuade him to come out into the open, and hire a public relations firm. If you are what you think you are, then back it up in the world's way.

John 7:5,"Neither did his brethren believe in him."

John 7:6. He announces, "My time is not yet come." There's an indication in Jesus own thought that he knew there would be a prophetic hour which must be fulfilled. The ingredients were not there yet. So, he indicates, "My prophetic hour is not yet come. Your time is always ready. “They did not have a solid understanding of prophecy.
